The Granola Goat Face Masks Review
The Granola Goat Face Masks Review

I've been a fan of Liz and her brand, The Granola Goat, for a while. If you've ever had the pleasure of connecting with Liz on Instagram, you can tell she really knows her stuff.

She knows so much about plant based ingredients, and she has a real passion for accessible and effective skincare. When I finally had the chance to try her face masks, I couldn't decide on just one. So I ordered four.

Magical Mushroom Face Mask

Made With...

  • Reishi Mushroom Powder*
  • Cacao Powder*
  • Besan Powder*
  • Rhassoul Clay
  • Turmeric Root Powder*
  • Patchouli Essential Oil**

* = Certified Organic
** = Organically Grown

Scent - This mask didn't really have a scent, which I'm totally fine with! It did smell a tiny bit like cocoa (from the cacao powder) but if you're not into fragrances, don't worry because it's barely noticeable!

Efficacy - This mask had just the right balance of clarifying and soothing properties, so it worked really well to cleanse my oilier, acne prone areas while still providing some hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties! Most masks do one or the other but this did both!

Super Soother Face Mask

Made With...

  • Hemp Powder*
  • White Kaolin Clay
  • Yarrow Powder*
  • German Chamomile Essential Oil**

* = Certified Organic
** = Organically Grown

Scent - This mask definitley had a scent, but I'm not exactly sure what it was, it was probably the hemp or the yarrow. But regardless, it wasn't a bad smell at all, it smelled very natural and herbal, and I loved it!

Efficacy - Oh my goodness I'm obsessed with this mask! It's so rare to find a mask that *actually* soothes my skin, so this was lovely to use! The day after I masked I really noticed a difference - my skin was brighter, clearer, and there was so much less redness! I'm hoping to order a full size and keep it as a go-to for when I've got important meetings or events to really clear up and soothe my skin!

Let's Get Glowing Face Mask

Made With...

  • Calendula Powder*
  • Orange Peel Powder*
  • Fuller's Earth Clay
  • Lemon Essential Oil**

* = Certified Organic
** = Organically Grown

Scent - This doesn't have much of a scent, but it does have a super light, lemon scent thanks to the essential oils! However, like with all of these masks, I don't think the scent is overpowering at all, and it's definitely not lingering.

Efficacy - I love a good brightening face mask because they're one of the easiest ways to get more luminous, clear skin. And this mask is no exception. The calendula powder is very soothing, which can help make your skin appear more bright, the orange peel is full of brightening antioxidants, and the fuller's earth clay balances the skin and helps heal acne and acne scars!

Tea Amo Face Mask

*This mask has been discontinued!

Made With...

  • Matcha Powder*
  • Lemon Peel Powder*
  • French Green Clay
  • Peppermint Essential Oil**

* = Certified Organic
** = Organically Grown

Scent - This has a light matcha scent that I love! I've been using a lot of matcha infused products lately and not only do I find they're amazing for the skin but they just smell so good!

Efficacy - I am so sad to see this one go, especially because I wasn't able to order a full size before it was officially discontinued. This was one of my favourite masks, and I think it's because of the matcha. I found it to be very brightening, clarifying, and still soothing, so my skin didn't look as red or irritated. I highly recommend picking it up if you can!

The Granola Goat Face Masks Overview

Texture - These are all dry, clay based masks that pretty much have the texture you'd expect from a clay mask when dry and when mixed with water. I do love how exfoliating these are - I always cleanse and exfoliate before masking, but when I remove these masks it's like I get a second (gentle) exfoliation that really helps leave my skin soft and renewed.

Sustainability - (Taken from TGG Serums Review b/c I couldn't have said it better than I already have!)  I really really really appreciate how much The Granola Goat does for sustainability. A lot of smaller brands simply can't afford 100% certified organic ingredients, but Liz uses as many certified organic ingredients as possible, and if they're not certified organic, they're organically grown or wild harvested. She also uses glass packaging (including these samples!) and reuses packing materials as often as possible! You can learn more about the sustainability of Liz's products in her About page and FAQ!
