Everywhere you look, you'll see something about a new detox. There's always a new tea, smoothie, juice, or food that's supposed to help detox your body.

For a health conscious person, it's a bit overwhelming. Especially when most of these detoxes aren't the healthiest way to take care of our bodies.

But we don't have to shy away from the word detox. We just need to know how to gently remove toxins without going to extremes. And we can start with our beauty routine.

What Does "Detox" Mean? 

According to the Internet, detoxification is "the physiological or medicinal removal of toxic substances from a living organism, including the human body." (Detoxification)

So when you hear about a detox diet, it's supposed to help the body get rid of toxins.

How Can I Detox My Body Through Beauty? 

To help you naturally detox your skin, I'm sharing five simple ways to remove toxins.

  1. Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal is often used by medical professionals in emergency situations to remove poison from the body. Charcoal absorbs the poisons, reducing their harmful effects.

To incorporate charcoal into your beauty routines, you can look for charcoal in your soaps, cleansers, and face masks.

2. Essential Oils

Essential oils are my favourite way to naturally heal. I love using them to calm my anxieties, to promote relaxation, and to help with minor ailments.

While there are several essential oils that can help detox your body, I've narrowed down my favourites.

  • Peppermint
  • Rosemary
  • Lemon
  • Patchouli
  • Tea Tree

If you're new to essential oils, don't worry, they're easy to use. You can add them to a scrub or bath, or diffuse them in your home. As long as they're diluted properly, the uses for these magic oils are endless.

3. Clay

High quality clay works to absorb toxins and remove them from your skin.

To incorporate clay into your beauty routine, look for clay infused face masks, scrubs, and cleansers.

4. Seaweed + Algae

Seaweed and algae are packed with nutrients that nourish your body. They both feed your cells and improve circulation. This helps with the body's natural detoxification process by removing waste more efficiently.

Of course you can eat seaweed as a snack, but you can also find it in your cleansers, face masks, treatments, and serums.

5. Coffee

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know how much I love coffee. My feed is basically just pictures of coffee and beauty products.

Coffee isn't just a delicious way to drink your antioxidants. Coffee helps detox your body by improving circulation and improving your body's waste removal systems.

It's also easy to add to your beauty routine, making it a great way to naturally detox your body every day.
