This might sound obvious, but we can all benefit from lots of antioxidants!
Antioxidants prevent and repair our skin's cellular damage, reducing the effects of sun damage and of course signs of aging. Look for antioxidants like vitamin e (which also preserves skincare products!), grapeseed oil, green tea, coffee, lycopene, and vitamin c!
P.S If you do use products with vitamin c, please use them at night and make sure to use a sunscreen in the day, as vitamin c can make your skin more suseptible to sunlight and damage!
While I think using aloe vera on it's own is great for repairing sun damage and healing your skin, it's also a wonderful substitute for water in store bought products. While we obviously need water for healthy skin, using aloe vera in place of water in products offers more benefits to the skin, and I think it makes for a more effective product!
P.S There's nothing wrong with water in products, per say, I just always prefer products with aloe vera instead of water! The products are usually more effective and honestly I hate paying for water!
While hyaluronic acid really is ideal for dry skin, I recommend it for all skin types because every person can benefit from properly hydrated skin.
Even if your skin is oilier or acne prone, when your skin is properly hydrated, it's going to be a lot healthier and more balanced, which also means it will be able to repair itself faster when you do get a breakout!
Look for this in serums, like the MyChelle Ultra Hyaluronic Hydrating Serum!
Lavender + Chamomile Essential Oils
I recommend these two oils for all skin types because every single person can benefit from soothing, anti-inflammatory properties. It's that simple!
Look for these in toners, serums, and moisturizers! Or add a drop to your face mask!
Frankincense + Geranium Essential Oils
Okay so yes, these are also essential oils, but I recommend them for different reasons. While all skin types can benefit from soothing, anti-inflammatory essential oils, they can also benefit from both frankincense and geranium.
Frankincense is one of my favourite essential oils for skincare, and I love adding it to face oils and looking for it in serums! It's ideal for all skin types because it helps promote healthy cellular function, it improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and is great for repairing damage and the appearance of wrinkles!
Geranium is also another goodie - it's going to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and act as an astringent to help balance your skin's oil production!
While there are always skincare ingredients to avoid, isn't it nice to look at what ingredients we should be using?
